Duluth artist Paul LaJeunesse recently unveiled his latest public artwork, Forge, on the north wall of Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply in Grand Marais, Minnesota. As highlighted by WTIP, the 10×20-foot mural captures the spirit of the North Shore, blending natural landscapes with the adventurous energy of the region.
The mural, funded by a Minnesota State Arts Board grant, uses vibrant colors and layered imagery to evoke the connection between land and water, capturing the rugged beauty of the area. LaJeunesse’s work reflects his deep respect for the environments he paints, drawing on his background as a landscape artist and muralist.
“This piece is about more than just a single image – it’s about capturing the energy, movement, and spirit of the North Shore,” LaJeunesse said. “I wanted to create something that reflects the journeys, challenges, and connections that define this place.”
The installation of Forge marks another significant addition to LaJeunesse’s public art portfolio, reinforcing his role as a leading voice in contemporary landscape art.
