Iceland Fullbright Scholarship
Paul LaJeunesse was awarded a Fulbright grant in 2007–2008 to create a body of landscape paintings in Iceland. During his residency, he worked in Reykjavík and Siglufjörður, immersing himself in the country’s unique environments and cultural context. This experience significantly influenced his artistic practice, leading to the development of works that explore the interplay between light, space, and structure. His Icelandic landscapes, often rendered in stark black and white, aim to evoke a sense of presence within the depicted scenes. LaJeunesse’s Fulbright-supported work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, including solo exhibitions in Iceland and the United States.
